Lightest Bauer pad ever; firm core, explosive movement

Base price: $1899·Style: butterfly·Level ceiling: College·Sizing: true

intermediatesenior

The FlyLite is Bauer's 2026 flagship in the Vapor line, replacing the HyperLite 2 at the top of the lineup. Bauer markets it as the lightest pads they've ever made, and the construction shows it: streamlined profile, firm core for explosive butterfly transitions, and the latest SL1D3R skin on the sliding edges.

It reads stiff out of the box and stays that way through break-in. Goalies who like to feel the puck on their pad will find it firm; those who chase pucks down to the corners will find rebounds predictable and lively.

Best for: AAA, Junior, and College butterfly goalies who want maximum mobility and don't mind paying flagship premium for the latest tech.

Not ideal for: hybrid goalies who want softer foam to close the seal, or anyone who'd be served by the year-old HyperLite 2 at $500 less. Most amateurs below the College level don't extract $500 of value from FlyLite over HyperLite 2.

Score breakdown

durability

3/5

Brand new for 2026, no long-term community data yet. Bauer's recent COR Tech Plus material is a step up from earlier generations, but the lightest-pad-ever construction trades some longevity for weight.

mobility

5/5

The defining strength. Class-leading weight, faster pad rotation, and quicker lateral transitions than anything else in the segment.

rebound

5/5

Firm core delivers predictable, lively rebounds out to the corners — exactly what butterfly goalies want.

sliding

4/5

Bauer's SL1D3R skin is solid; community ranks Vaughn QuickSlide and Brian's slide tech slightly higher.

comfort

4/5

Streamlined profile means a slimmer knee landing area than older bulky designs. Strapping is well-built. Some goalies report the firm core needs a season to break in.

value

2/5

At $1,899 you're paying flagship premium for incremental gains over the HyperLite 2 at $500 less. Most buyers below College level get more pad-per-dollar elsewhere.

resale

5/5

Bauer's most popular pro line. Used market is very active — these hold value better than any other brand.
