CCM Axis Axis XF Total Custom
FlagshipTop of Axis line; LiteXCore with internal break, DRS Pro adjustable knee
Base price: $1800·Style: butterfly·Level ceiling: College·Sizing: true
The Axis XF Total Custom is the top of CCM's Axis line — now technically a prior-gen flagship since the Tacks Pro launched in 2026, but still sold and still relevant for goalies who prefer proven over new. Total Custom means you configure the pad from scratch: materials, colors, fit options, and flex settings are all chosen at order time rather than pulled from retail stock.
Construction: LiteXCore internal-break core, which reduces pad weight by moving the break point inside the pad body rather than relying purely on external flex. DRS Pro+ adjustable knee stack is a CCM strength — you can dial the stack height for your knee anatomy. Butterfly-focused geometry throughout.
The edge-splitting issue documented across the Axis line applies here too. Custom builds tend to get closer QC attention than retail pulls, which may help — but CCM's warranty service reputation is poor regardless of build tier. The XF custom designation doesn't change the warranty terms.
Best for: College-ceiling butterfly goalies who want Axis performance with custom fit and color options; goalies for whom the LiteXCore internal-break feel is specifically the target.
Not ideal for: anyone who needs fast turnaround (custom pads take weeks); goalies who want proven long-term durability given the Axis edge-splitting track record.
Scores
Score breakdown
durability
3/5Edge-splitting is documented across the entire Axis line in community threads. Custom builds may get better QC attention, but the underlying material concern is the same. CCM warranty process is slow and adversarial per community feedback.
mobility
4/5LiteXCore internal break reduces overall pad weight while maintaining a stiff butterfly feel. Fast enough for College-level lateral movement.
rebound
5/5Stiff Axis core — the defining strength of this line. Lively, predictable rebounds that stay close to the post.
sliding
3/5CCM Speedskin is the weakest of the major slide systems. Custom build options don't change the sliding material.
comfort
4/5DRS Pro+ adjustable knee stack is a genuine comfort advantage. Custom fit options at the XF tier mean you can dial in the knee height and calf geometry specifically.
value
2/5At $1,800 for a now-prior-gen flagship, the value case is hard to make. The A3.9 below delivers most of the same feel at $600 less, without the wait time.
resale
4/5CCM custom pads lose resale value faster than retail — custom colors and fits don't translate to the used market. Brand popularity partially offsets this.
