intermediatesenior

The Tacks Team is the mid-tier entry in CCM's new 2026 Tacks line, sitting below the Tacks Pro flagship. It shares the same V-shape profile and general Tacks architecture but steps down to team-grade construction — intermediate materials, simplified strapping relative to the Pro's ADAPTIFIT 360 system.

Like the Tacks Pro, it's a 2026 release with no multi-season community data. The Tacks line overall is butterfly-focused: V-shape thin profile, 150-degree boot bend, aggressive modern geometry. At $999 it's priced between the old CCM Axis A3.9 and the Axis XF custom, occupying the AAA retail sweet spot in CCM's lineup.

Whether the Tacks Team inherits the Axis line's edge-splitting reputation is unknown. CCM's warranty service has historically been slow and difficult — that hasn't changed with the new line.

Best for: AAA butterfly goalies who want the new Tacks architecture without paying flagship money; intermediate-to-senior goalies who don't need the Pro's ADAPTIFIT 360 strapping upgrade.

Not ideal for: goalies who need proven multi-season durability before buying; anyone who'd rather wait a season for community feedback on a new CCM line.

How scores are calculated.

Score breakdown

durability

3/5

New 2026 line, no long-term data. CCM's Axis predecessor had edge-splitting problems; whether Tacks addresses this is unverified. Durability score reflects uncertainty.

mobility

4/5

V-shape thin profile delivers real speed gains over the older Axis design. Team-grade build is slightly heavier than the Tacks Pro but still fast.

rebound

4/5

Stiff core for a butterfly-focused pad. Slightly less pop than the flagship Pro, but clearly in the high-rebound range.

sliding

3/5

CCM Speedskin is the weakest of the major slide systems. No improvement expected at this tier.

comfort

4/5

Simplified strapping versus the Pro's ADAPTIFIT 360. Still better than CCM's prior-gen Axis fit, per early reviews.

value

4/5

At $999, the best value in the new Tacks line. The Pro above costs $900 more for incremental strapping and build upgrades most AAA goalies won't extract.

resale

4/5

CCM brand popularity supports solid used-market demand. New model year helps short-term resale; long-term depends on durability reputation.
